Family Support

Braintree District Mencap Family Support Service has been available free of charge to our members with a learning disability, for their family or their carer since 2018. This service is managed by Heather Murrills our Family Support Officer. Heather has 30 plus years of social care experience working in residential or day care settings, housing, safeguarding, and advocacy for people with learning disabilities.  

The Family Support Service aims to be there for our members so that timely valued support is at their side, person centred, without judgement and is always given with discretion, to enable understanding and to build their resilience.
