Family Support

Braintree District Mencap Family Support Service offers free support to anyone with a learning disability, to their family or carers. The service is managed by Heather Murrills, working since 2018 to support our members. My role of Family Support Officer is part time, 25 hours a week. I enjoy meeting people and feel trusted to make a difference. I am proud to represent Braintree District Mencap. I can be contacted by e-mail at  familysupport@braintreemencap.org.uk  or phone/text me on 0777 170 4490.

You are welcome to come into Charles Leeks House, the home of Braintree District Mencap, for a confidential chat or, I can make a home visit to see you or meet with you in the community, whichever is best for you. Support will be specific to your needs and delivered without judgement and always with discretion. The Family Support Service aims to be there, side by side, to smoothly steer through and then to equip people with an improved confidence and increased personal resilience.

Support may be the one conversation or several conversations which resolve a problem or provide the information needed about an enquiry or concern. Some support will be more complex with detailed work necessary for weeks, or months duration, and may include continued linked working with partnership agencies.
