Gateway is a large social club for adults with a learning disability, which takes place every Thursday evening at Charles Leeks House in Braintree from 7-9pm.
Every week we do a different activity – pottery, card making, karaoke, discos, cake decorating, yoga, cricket…. You can visit our photo gallery [here] on our Facebook page for an idea of what we do!

It is run by our members committee, who play an important part in helping to provide the entertainment and choose what activities we do. Every member of Gateway gets an opportunity to be voted onto our Members Committee at our Annual General Meeting in the autumn.

Every member of Gateway is expected to complete a membership form. If you would like to join, please download the form by clicking here and then bring it on the night.

We follow a termly timetable of activities, so you know what to expect from week to week. Some weeks are busier than others, but on average over 100 people and their carers attend. You can download our timetable HERE!

If you would like more details about our Gateway Club you can contact Mandy Christy, our Gateway Leader via email at

We also have our Gateway Activity Group – an adventure and personal development group – , which all members can attend.
