Volunteering Opportunities at Braintree Mencap

We are currently looking to recruit new volunteers for our Gateway Club and our “Bridge” Club which are both social opportunities for adults with a learning disability.

Both clubs run along a similar vein in the way that every week there is a different activity on offer, the main difference is in size. Bridge Club is smaller – about 24 people attend and it is aimed primarily at young adults to increase their social opportunities both at our centre or in community facilities. It runs from 7-9pm every Wednesday evening.

Gateway is wonderful chaos – a club with over 120 attendees every week! It is noisy and fun – we love our discos, karaoke, talent shows, arts and crafts and so much more. It runs from 7-9pm every Thursday evening from Charles Leeks House in Braintree.

Both clubs have such a happy vibe that by volunteering at either it is a great way to make new friends, learn new skills to add to your CV or simply just to enrich your own world as well as someone elses. Volunteering with us is work that feels like having fun!

If you feel inspired and have a couple of hours spare – search Gateway or 18-30 club on this website, or contact Tina Fitton for more details on 01376 326302 or email tinafitton@virginmedia.com
